We recently sent a letter to the Fifth Avenue Committee requesting answers to questions many in our community have asked us. These are basic questions that shouldn't be difficult for the FAC to answer. As this is not the first facility the FAC has opened or operated, the answers to these questions should he easily available. We would like the FAC to go on record with these answers as a gesture to the members of the community who have unanswered questions. Some community groups in our area who have a prior relationship with the FAC seem reluctant to ask these questions and are OK with giving the FAC a blank check to do as they wish. The 16th Street Action Group and many community members we have spoken with feel it would be beneficial to the process if these questions could be answered in a clear, detailed manner. Some of us have been to various meetings with the FAC and find they answer questions in an ambiguous manner passing over the details on how the 575 5th Ave project will function and what level of involvement the community will have in it. Any responsible community member should want these questions answered. We have heard the FAC claim the community is uninformed and there is a lot of misinformation being distributed so we ask that the FAC answer these questions to help close this communication gap. We have sent the following letter to the FAC via email and certified mail on April 4th, 2007. We await their response.
We received the following files as a response to the questions we posted. Please direct any questions about the documents to hgershen@fifthave.org or mdelauz@fifthave.org.
The FAC has reorganized the document and rewrote the questions in the form of a FAQ. They have also dropped many of the sub questions to "keep the document short". The 16th Street Action Group does not consider this a valid response to our questions. We present their response so you can make up your own mind.
